The wisdom of the bamboo

In the land Hotsuin almost all the inhabitants became experts in the martial arts as they matured. They were so skilled and all had so much knowledge that you could hardly say one was better than another.

The people were simple peasants who worked the land and raised animals. They did not participate in wars and did not belong to any faith. It was a closed community located in an isolated land, a land without neighbors, living in a patriarchal silence, in an atmosphere of the beginning of the world.

The wisdom of the bamboo

Everything lasted until they settled nearby kwa, the people of the inn Liguo. Tranquility turned into threat, well-being into insecurity, hope into despair.

The locals looked at them with indifference at first, but eventually understood that they were wrong. The robberies intensified and became more and more numerous. Many looters perished in these incursions, but each time more returned.

Exasperated, those of Hotsuin, relying on their fighting skills, they decided to attack the enemy to destroy him. Thus, some of the men formed a small army that set off.

It was a very good army, but extremely small. The struggle was that between an ant and an elephant, or like trying to stem a swollen river with an olive branch.

people kwa they suffered heavy losses, but the small army was disbanded. In front of the inn then the commander of the troops appeared, Liu Shuhi:

- Glory be to you, I have destroyed the army of men hotsuin. By order of your highness I will burn the land and kill all survivors…

The inn looked at him with contempt. The strength of his army did not lie in the intelligence of the leaders but in its seemingly infinite size.

- Your stupidity Shuhi, said the inn, is as big as the expanse of the ocean. If you kill them, who else will you rob to feed your people. Or maybe you want your fighters to turn into farmers?

- Forgiveness master! Command…

– Attack them, loot them, but let them live and rebuild their households, so you can also loot at harvest.

On the other hand, the concern was great. They knew that many fighters had died and those that remained would not have been able to withstand the onslaught of invaders.

They had a choice: they either left the land or were destroyed.

The best people met for the final consultation, but the solution did not appear, even after long research. Then it was decided to announce through the villages that any solution that anyone could propose, would be debated in the war council.

Many solutions appeared, some of them more fantastic, but none of them seemed to have a finality. Until a young man arrived from the foot of the mountains, who proposed to the council the construction of a wall to defend the land.

It seemed an impossible undertaking, but it was worth a try. In the face of enemy rushes, putting up a strong wall in front of them, a handful of skilled warriors could successfully defend themselves.

But it was not as simple as it seemed on the first day of work. The construction had started at one end and had already advanced more than a kilometer. In the coming days though, folks kwa they rushed in and destroyed the unfinished wall in one fell swoop. Attempts at construction continued, but the results were the same. As they were half built, the walls were destroyed by the enemy. It was the time when they were inevitably heading towards leaving the works and the land.

And yet salvation came. And not from a skilled architect or builder, but from a child marveling at the rapid growth of a Chinese bamboo. It is known that for five years it does not grow close to the place, and then in only six weeks it reaches its maximum size. His father understood the meaning of the incident and related it to the war council.

For several years, the people of the inn continued to prey on the locals, and they, curiously, stopped responding to challenges. But everyone knew what was happening. Supplies were being gathered and the materials for the wall were being prepared.

On the day when everything was ready, at the signal of the community leaders the work began and the miracle happened. In two days, the wall that surrounded and defended the land was raised. From that moment people kwa they could no longer enter the land Hotsuin.

Over time, over hundreds of generations, the wall crumbled and disappeared. However, it has not disappeared from the memory of the villagers of a mountain settlement, where, thousands of years ago, a child marveled at the wisdom of the bamboo.
