Description

Enswell – Classic – swelling reduction device.

Swelling is usually associated with facial hematomas (bruises) and is traditionally reduced (treated) by applying firm pressure with a device Enswell refrigerated or an ice pack on top of the trauma area.

Enswell, sometimes called "eye iron", End-Swell or Endswell is a small smooth piece of thick metal with a handle. It is kept in the ice bucket and is used to cool the swollen area or a cut by applying direct pressure to reduce blood flow to the traumatized area. The idea is that the cold will cause the capillaries to constrict and thus reduce blood flow to the swelling.

The treatment of swelling is applied as follows:

Cutman press the enswell against the athlete's skin especially in the areas around the eyes where swelling can affect vision. Given that the time between rounds is very short, cutman try to apply the enswell immediately and hold it as long as possible. It is a common mistake to use the enswell to push directly on the swollen area in an attempt to disperse or move it in a safer place, such as out of sight; such treatment will not move the hematoma, and may disturb the microscopic blood vessels under the skin, thus causing increased bleeding and expansion of the swollen area.

Before fighting, cutman will usually apply a petroleum-based gel to the most likely areas of impact, particularly the fighter's face, which makes the skin more elastic and slippery, and therefore less likely to break. It is not considered good practice to use a large amount of gel, as during the fight it is likely to transfer to the opponent's gloves, and later end up in the fighter's eyes when the opponent hits the athlete's eyes.

Treatment of cuts:

The area around the eyes is the most common area of the face affected by cuts. The wound is treated by applying a cold towel to clean and cool the cut area simultaneously, causing a decrease in blood flow. A cotton pad soaked in epinephrine is applied with pressure to reduce the blood flow, even more, and Avitene is put into the cut to coagulate the blood. Cutman can also cover the area with petroleum jelly to prevent further damage to the affected area.

Epistaxis generally occurs near the opening of the nose. To stop the bleeding, cutman generally applies a cotton pad soaked in adrenaline hydrochloride to the affected area while simultaneously pressing the nostril on a cotton pad with the other hand. Once the bleeding has stopped, the area is cooled with an ice pack or a Enswell. The fighter is usually instructed to breathe through the mouth during the treatment.

A broken nose is a more difficult case and can be detected by a large flow of dark blood flowing from the nose. Bleeding is generally treated in the same way. The athlete is usually instructed to avoid swallowing blood because it can induce nausea or vomiting. For serious cases catman will consult the doctor assisting the fight.
a cutman is a person responsible for preventing and treating physical injuries sustained by a fighter during breaks between rounds of a full contact match such as boxing, kickboxing or mixed martial arts.

Cutman it usually treats swelling, nosebleeds, and open wounds (usually called cuts). Combat sports rules state that these injuries can cause a match to be stopped prematurely, depending on their severity. Thus, cutman it is essential for the fighter and can be a deciding factor in the final outcome of the match.

For many fighters on a budget, fees for cutman are paid by the cornerman their. Qwhile most sports commissions request that cutman to be licensed, there is usually no formal training or certification required. Most often cutman he is self-taught.

Unlike boxing, cutmanfor MMA mixed martial arts events is generally provided by the promoter rather than the fighter's corner man. This is to prevent accusations of "over-greasing" (applying Vaseline to places other than the forehead, giving an unfair advantage in battle).

Cutman not to be confused with the attending physician, an official who monitors the health of the fighters and whose task is closer to that of a neutral referee. The fight doctor provides medical advice, monitors the safety of both fighters in accordance with existing regulations and assesses their ability to continue the fight.

The present is a presentation and does not constitute medical indications.
