Kama Training is the Japanese sickle. Kama 鎌, as a weapon, can be used individually or in pairs as the case may be Okinawa Kobudo. It is also called kai. It was originally a sickle for harvesting rice, this shape is still preserved today (those who travel to Japan will be surprised to find kama at the household goods department). Kama is an agricultural tool used by farmers in the Philippines as well. Kama is used both in techniques to block the opponent's weapons and for attack, the kama strike being devastating. An extremely effective and dangerous kobudo weapon.
Currently in Japan there are two officially registered forms: Tozan and Kanigawa. The forms taught nowadays have almost nothing to do with the techniques used in the past in fighting.
