The kit contains a special oil for the blade, a textile or rice paper material for wiping (nuggets), a cloth with powder for polishing the blade (uchiko) and a hammer (mekuginuki) for fitting/removing the wooden rivets of the handle (mekugi).
All these are kept in a wooden box. Complete installation and maintenance instructions are available online.
