Kodachi PP – Japanese polypropylene short sword, resistant to repeated hits.
Kodachi is the short sword. Kodachi (小太刀 or こだち?) is translated by shut up short. It is a traditional Japanese sword used by the Japanese nobility and samurai. Kodachi appeared at the beginning of the Kamakura Period (1185-1333) and is shaped like a sword shut up but with dimensions below 60 cm.
The exact utility of this sword is unknown – kodachi. It may have been made to be worn with tickle, or to have been a teenage sword.
Wakizashi is the short sword carried along with katana. It was a useful sword especially in interior fighting.
The line between the two names is very thin, often confusing them. Currently when we say kodachi most of the time we think of a training weapon (wooden or inflatable/sponge – for sports chanbara)
