Tsuki is the hilt of the Japanese sword. The full term is Tsuki-gashira. Tsuki it is not just a simple handle but with its help you can also apply blows to the face or the solar plexus.

Usually Tsuki it is made of magnolia wood. It consists of two parts glued together with fish glue. Cat or shark skin is applied over the wood (same). This is sweat-resistant leather and does not rot over time. A leather, cotton or silk ribbon is applied over this skin (it) that intertwines in a specific way. Between it and cat skin are placed two pieces of metal (menus) one on each face. The connection between the sword blade and the hilt (Tsuki) is secured[ with a bamboo rivet (mekugi). Two metal pieces are applied to the ends to hold the whole assembly (Fuch & kashira).
